Even the world famous film director Emir Kusturica could not resist the beauties of Mokra Gora. After the shooting of his film “Life is a Miracle” in the site of Mokra Gora, he finally decided to stay in this village and live there, and build up his own Drven Grad (Wooden Town) on the top of Mećavnik Hill. It was said that during the shooting of the film “Life is a Miracle” which was mainly taking place in Mokra Gora, he was sitting under the tremendous mountains, waiting for weeks for the nice sunny day to be able to shoot one finishing scene. As in this part the game of sun and rainy clouds was continuous, he was sitting there waiting and waiting. The one day he noticed that, no matter to the weather conditions, one plateau not far from the shooting place was always sunny. That moment and that place, two years later, have been marked by imagination and the vision of one of the most prominent film directors of Europe.

Drven Grad presents uniqe ethno village consisting of wooden buildings, such as so-called cottages of Old-Vlach type, the typical buildings for living on the mountain villages of Tara and Zlatibor.
The knowledge and the skills by which the wood was processed, general, and very often the only one building material, have reached very high level, which placed these small and modest cottages abreast together with important building realizations. Since these kind of objects are disappearing due to the influence of urbanization, Drven Grad is an extraordinary place to see, in one place, these kind of buildings made by village masons. |

Taken from the villages or at the site reconstructed cottages in Drven Grad got their modern function, so these town has its own cinema, library, gallery, souvenir shop, traditional restaurant and the coffee shop where besides various tarts and other sweets, only the natural made juices are served.
Coming to Drven Grad we are traveling in the typical settlement of this area of XIX century, and random meeting of celebrity Emir Kusturica reminds us that we are already stepped into the XXI century. |
